Charité Berlin reports rheumatoid arthritis remission using CAR-T therapy
Researchers at Charité Berlin have reported significant progress in using CAR-T cell therapy to treat autoimmune diseases. In the COMPARE clinical phase-1 study, doctors investigated the efficacy of Mivocabtagen-Autoleucel (miv-cel) on patients with severe, treatment-resistant rheumatoid arthritis.
According to data published in Nature Medicine, six patients participated in the study. All participants showed a marked reduction in disease activity, with three patients achieving remission for up to one year without the need for additional medication. The findings suggest the therapy exerts a profound effect on the immune system through B-cell depletion.
