Charity food drives launched in Costa Rica and Mexico

Various charitable initiatives are underway in Costa Rica and Mexico to combat food insecurity. In Costa Rica, the company CoopeMontecillos donated 1,550 kilograms of meat to the Banco de Alimentos de Costa Rica. This contribution supports the “14 years fighting hunger” campaign, benefiting 8,336 people through 54 non-governmental organizations.

In Monclova, Mexico, Cáritas Región Siderúrgica and the local municipality have launched the “Alimenta 2026” collection campaign. Running until November 15, the initiative seeks donations of non-perishable goods such as rice, beans, and canned items to assist families facing economic difficulties. Organizers noted that in Mexico, one in seven people lacks food security, highlighting the need for community solidarity and improved food distribution mechanisms.
