Charles Perrottet testifies to ICAC regarding developer dealings
Charles Perrottet, a Liberal Party powerbroker and brother of former NSW Premier Dominic Perrottet, has provided testimony to the Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) regarding dealings with fugitive developer Jean Nassif.
Perrottet admitted to making up information in messages to Nassif, including claiming to have contacts in the Planning Delivery Unit to assist with development approvals, in an effort to keep the developer onside. He also addressed conflicting evidence regarding payments made to his wife Anita’s company, Macquarie Consulting. While Anita Perrottet testified that the company’s work was solely for strategic advice regarding Greyhound Racing NSW, Charles Perrottet suggested the funds were remuneration for advice he provided to help Jeremy Greenwood and Christian Ellis regarding Nassif’s company, Toplace.
The ICAC is currently investigating whether Liberal Party operatives sought illegal cash from Nassif in exchange for political outcomes and whether prohibited donations were funneled through third parties to support a Christian right-wing faction of the party.
