Chase updates terms for Sapphire Reserve hotel credits

Chase has updated the terms for the Sapphire Reserve’s $500 annual ‘The Edit’ hotel credit to prevent users from utilizing a workaround involving consecutive bookings. Under the new rules, back-to-back reservations at the same hotel will no longer be treated as separate stays if the second reservation begins within 24 hours of the first stay’s checkout.

Previously, cardholders could potentially trigger both $250 statement credits by booking two separate two-night stays at the same property. Now, Chase will classify such instances as a single stay, meaning only the first booking will qualify for the credit.

The benefit remains available to Sapphire Reserve and Sapphire Reserve for Business cardholders, providing two $250 statement credits per calendar year for prepaid bookings with a minimum two-night stay. Through the end of 2026, cardholders can still combine this benefit with separate hotel credits available for participating brands such as IHG, Omni, Montage, Pendry, and Virgin Hotels.
