Chef Abbys launches initiative to feed 50,000 people in Ghana

Ghanaian food creator Chef Abbys, born Abena Amoakoaa Sintim-Aboagye, is launching the ‘Big Street Feast’ initiative to provide meals to 50,000 people in Accra and Kumasi. The project is timed around World Food Day on October 16.

Beyond immediate food relief, Abbys is advocating for October 16 to be formally recognized as ‘Free Food Day’ in Ghana. This designation would encourage individuals, restaurants, and food brands to participate in annual, collective efforts to combat hunger rather than treating relief as isolated events.

Abbays’ career began by sharing cooking videos on Snapchat, a digital presence that has since evolved into an international brand recognized by TIME. Through her culinary work and the Chefabbys School of Food, she aims to promote African cuisine globally, celebrate cultural heritage, and inspire a new generation of African food entrepreneurs.
