Chef Abbys Big Street Feast initiative in Ghana
Overview
Chef Abbys, a Ghanaian food creator, launched the ‘Big Street Feast’ initiative to provide meals to 50,000 people in Accra and Kumasi. The project was timed to coincide with World Food Day on October 16. As part of this effort, Abbys advocated for October 16 to be formally recognized in Ghana as ‘Free Food Day’ to encourage annual collective action against hunger.
