Chef Killed by Headless Cobra Bite in Guangdong, China

Chef Peng Fan was preparing snake soup in a restaurant in Foshan, Guangdong, when he placed the severed head of a cobra into a trash bag. The headless snake unexpectedly revived and bit his hand, injecting neurotoxic venom. Peng Fan collapsed and died from respiratory failure before medical help could administer antivenom.

Local police described the incident as "an unusual case and an accident. Only antivenom could have saved Peng Fan, but it arrived too late," noting the rarity of a head‑less cobra retaining biting reflexes.
