Chelsea joins race for Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara

Chelsea has joined the pursuit of AS Monaco midfielder Lamine Camara, increasing competition for the 22-year-old Senegal international. The London club joins several other Premier League sides, including Liverpool, Manchester United, Crystal Palace, and Nottingham Forest, in showing interest in the player.

Camara, who joined Monaco from Metz two years ago, has established himself as a key defensive midfielder. Monaco is reportedly demanding a transfer fee of approximately €50m (£42.7m) for the player, who remains under contract until June 2029. While Crystal Palace recently had a bid exceeding £35m rejected, Monaco remains in a strong negotiating position due to the player's long-term contract.

Monaco manager Filipe Luis has expressed a desire to retain Camara to build a competitive squad, though he acknowledged that clubs are sometimes forced to sell players. The potential departure of Camara would represent a significant change for the Monaco roster following the exit of Maghnes Akliouche.
