Chelsea Targets Crystal Palace Defender Maxence Lacroix

Chelsea have opened talks with Crystal Palace over centre‑back Maxence Lacroix, a 26‑year‑old French international who has established himself in the Premier League. New manager Xabi Alonso is seeking a defender with height, pace and top‑flight experience to bolster a back line that includes Levi Colwill and others.

Crystal Palace, who won the FA Cup with Lacroix in the side, are reluctant to sell. The player is under contract until 2029 and was bought for roughly €18 million, giving the club a strong negotiating position. Talks are expected to focus on price and any suitable replacement for the Eagles, especially after the recent departure of Marc Guéhi.

Chelsea’s interest was confirmed by reports stating, “Chelsea are interested in Crystal Palace defender Maxence Lacroix,” and the club is expected to weigh the deal against its broader recruitment and possible player exits.
