Chennai man, 51, secures MBBS seat after qualifying for NEET

A 51-year-old man from Chennai, A Sureshkumar, has secured an MBBS seat at Nagapattinam Government Medical College after qualifying through the NEET exam. A double PhD holder currently serving as a vice-president at a diagnostics company, Sureshkumar has pursued his dream of becoming a doctor since 1992.

Sureshkumar qualified under the persons with disabilities category, following a 2019 road accident that left him with a 40% disability. He noted that teaching biology to his school-aged sons helped him prepare for the exam. He expressed a commitment to serving in remote or hilly areas, stating he is prepared to work even without a salary to fulfill his goal of serving people in underserved locations.
