Chennai murder: Couple arrested in Manipur for killing woman

Police have arrested a couple from Manipur in connection with the brutal murder of a woman near Guduvanchery, Chennai. The victim, identified as Hathul Nisha, worked for a private company near Tambaram.

The investigation began after a suitcase containing human remains was discovered at Agra railway station on the Tamil Nadu Express. Following a review of over 350 CCTV cameras, authorities traced the suitcase to a couple who had left it on a train. Police later recovered the remaining parts of the body at a rented house in Guduvanchery.

Investigators revealed that the suspects cooked parts of the body in a biryani pot with vegetables and flour to destroy evidence. The arrested individuals, Manik Laskar and his wife Bhagmati Majhi, allegedly conspired to kill Nisha following a dispute regarding an extramarital affair between Laskar and the victim. The suspects were apprehended in Manipur while attempting to flee.
