Chennai reports surge in fever and dengue cases
Chennai and its surrounding areas are experiencing a rapid increase in fever and dengue cases. In the last 10 days, more than 2,000 people have shown fever symptoms, with 140 cases confirmed as dengue.
Health experts are concerned as the number of dengue cases reported in this short period is approaching the total number of cases recorded in August, which saw approximately 4,500 fever cases and 160 dengue infections. High concentrations of cases have been noted in the Adyar, Anna Nagar, and Velachery zones.
Doctors report the spread of various respiratory viruses, including Influenza A, Rhinovirus, and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). Medical professionals are advising residents to seek professional medical consultation rather than self-medicating and to take precautions to prevent mosquito breeding by ensuring water does not stagnate in containers, tires, or flowerpots.
