Chennai Super Kings consider Hemang Badani to succeed Stephen Fleming as head coach

Chennai Super Kings have ended their 18‑year partnership with Stephen Fleming after a disappointing IPL 2026 season in which the team failed to reach the playoffs. The franchise is now evaluating candidates for the head‑coach role ahead of the IPL 2027 auction. Former Indian batter Hemang Badani, who coached Delhi Capitals last season and previously led the Chepauk Super Gillies to multiple TNPL titles, has emerged as the leading contender. CSK officials, including director Rupa Gurunath, are reviewing the team's performance in Dallas and plan to make a decision before the upcoming auction. Fleming’s tenure saw six IPL titles and eleven finals appearances, but the recent results prompted the mutual separation.
