BCCI extends IPL 2027 retention deadline to November 17

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has extended the deadline for Indian Premier League (IPL) franchises to submit their player retention and release lists. Originally set for November 15, the new deadline is November 17, 2026. The extension is reportedly due to a scheduling clash with the fifth and final ODI between India and New Zealand, which is scheduled for November 15.

Despite the deadline shift, the IPL mini-auction remains scheduled for December 16 in Goa. The auction date coincides with an international ODI match between India and Sri Lanka in Bengaluru, but the BCCI has indicated no changes to the auction schedule.

Player registration for the auction began on November 2 and will close on November 23. Following this, franchises have until December 1 to submit their final auction lists, with the official register set to be released on December 3. Recent player trades have already been completed, including Rishabh Pant moving from Lucknow Super Giants to Delhi Capitals in exchange for Kuldeep Yadav, and T Natarajan joining Sunrisers Hyderabad for Zeeshan Ansari.
