Cheongyang County prepares for 2026 Chili and Goji Berry Festival
Cheongyang County has finalized preparations for the 2026 Cheongyang Chili and Goji Berry Festival, scheduled to take place from September 11 to September 13 at Baekse Health Park. The event aims to attract 110,000 visitors and generate an economic impact of over 9 billion won.
To support consumers, the county has set the price for dried red peppers at 15,000 won per 600g (standard) and 17,000 won for de-stemmed varieties, maintaining the same pricing as last year. A total of 10,000 geun of certified ‘Chilgap Maru’ dried peppers will be available for sale, alongside HACCP-certified red pepper powder. Buyers can benefit from free shipping and local gift certificates for certain purchase amounts.
The festival program includes various performances featuring artists such as Song Ga-in and Park Ji-hyun, a high school cooking survival competition, and a cooking show by Chef Yeo Kyung-rae. To improve visitor experience, the number of food booths has been increased from 17 to 28, and new facilities such as heat shelters, expanded parking, and shuttle buses will be provided. Safety measures include the operation of a comprehensive situation room and medical support center in coordination with police and fire services.
