Cheongyang Chili and Goji Berry Festival concludes
Overview
The 27th Cheongyang Chili and Goji Berry Festival, held from September 11–13 at Baekse Health Park, has concluded. The event featured a diverse program including a high school culinary survival competition, a ‘Catch! Teenieping’ sing-along show, and performances by artists such as Song Ga-in, Park Ji-hyun, Park Hyun-bin, and Solji.
To promote regional agricultural excellence, the county held an awards ceremony for the ‘2026 Cheongyang Chili and Goji Berry Kings.’ Top producers, including Chili King Choi Yu-seon and Goji Berry King Na Woo-chan, were honored based on cultivation scale and quality. The county displayed portraits of these award-winning farmers at the Welcome Center to encourage consumer trust.
Despite challenging weather, the festival exceeded initial visitor expectations, attracting 116,616 people. The event generated over 1.4 billion won in agricultural product sales through on-site direct markets. Activities included large-scale kimchi making, goji berry rice cake mosaics, and an amateur saxophone ensemble competition. County Governor Kim Hong-yeol expressed commitment to developing the event into a ‘competitive, representative national festival.’
