Cher wins procedural victory in conservatorship case over son

A Los Angeles judge has continued a conservatorship case involving singer Cher and her son, Elijah Blue Allman, after Allman failed to appear at a scheduled hearing. Neither Allman nor his attorney, Steven Brumer, attended the proceedings, prompting Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Jessica A. Uzcategui to reappoint counsel for Allman and reschedule the hearing for December 1.

The legal battle centers on Cher’s efforts to manage her son’s finances, specifically regarding approximately $120,000 in annual trust distributions from the estate of his late father, Gregg Allman.

The California proceedings are currently linked to a separate guardianship case in New Hampshire. New Hampshire State Hospital initiated guardianship proceedings for Allman in July, covering both his person and estate. Cher has requested a 120-day pause in the California case to allow the New Hampshire matter to progress. Her attorneys indicated that if the New Hampshire guardianship is deemed permanent and sufficient to protect Allman, she may drop the California petition; otherwise, she intends to proceed.
