Cher and Elijah Blue Allman conservatorship dispute

A legal dispute has emerged between singer Cher and her daughter-in-law, Marieangela King Allman, regarding a proposed conservatorship for Elijah Blue Allman. Cher petitioned for a court-ordered conservatorship and a professional fiduciary to manage Allman’s finances, citing concerns over his mental health and recent legal issues in New Hampshire, including charges of trespassing and burglary.

Marieangela King Allman opposed the petition, characterizing it as an “adversarial campaign of stripping me of my role as Elijah’s spouse.” She argued that she should be prioritized to manage her husband’s affairs and expressed concern that a conservator chosen by Cher could be punitive and jeopardize Allman’s recovery while he is in a psychiatric facility.

In subsequent proceedings, a Los Angeles judge rescheduled the case after Allman and his attorney failed to appear at a hearing. The California legal battle involves the management of approximately $120,000 in annual trust distributions from the estate of Allman’s late father, Gregg Allman. The California case is currently linked to separate guardianship proceedings initiated by the New Hampshire State Hospital. Cher has requested a pause in the California proceedings to allow the New Hampshire matter to progress, stating she may drop the California petition if the New Hampshire guardianship is deemed permanent and sufficient.
