Cherokee Nation approves $3.6 billion budget for FY2027
The Cherokee Nation Council has approved a $3.6 billion budget for fiscal year 2027. The spending plan maintains consistency with previous years while prioritizing investments in healthcare, education, and public safety.
A significant portion of the budget, totaling $511 million, is allocated to health-related capital construction projects. These funds will support the launch of the Claremore Emergency and Outpatient Health Center, the development of the OU Nursing Campus in Tahlequah, and expanded behavioral health services.
The tribe’s revenue is derived from several sources: approximately 63% from federal sources, 31% from tribal sources, and 3% from Cherokee Nation Businesses, with the remainder coming from tobacco taxes, motor fuel taxes, and car tag sales.
