Chery evaluates bringing Omoda and Jaecoo brands to China

Chery is reportedly considering bringing its Omoda and Jaecoo brands into the Chinese domestic market to target the premium segment. These brands were originally created to operate exclusively outside of China. This move comes as Chery faces a significant divergence between its global and domestic performance; while exports rose by 52.14% in August, domestic sales in China fell by 26.59% compared to the previous year.

In Brazil, the group is preparing to launch the Omoda QQ, an all-electric successor to the Chery QQ, scheduled for January 2027. The new model will be sold under the Omoda brand rather than Caoa Chery and is positioned to compete with electric hatchbacks such as the BYD Dolphin and Geely EX2. The Omoda QQ is expected to be larger and more refined than its predecessor, featuring a 15.6-inch multimedia center and a length of 4.20 meters.
