Chery unveils Omoda X concept SUV in Wuhu

Chery has introduced the Omoda X, a concept vehicle presented during the Chery International User Summit in Wuhu, China. Positioned as a ‘Cross Off-Road Vehicle,’ the model aims to blend the characteristics of a traditional SUV, a 4x4 off-roader, and a sports car.

The vehicle features a ‘Super Mecha’ design language inspired by Japanese mecha culture, characterized by sharp, geometric lines and a wide stance. Technical specifications include a ground clearance of 200 mm, a water-wading capability of over 700 mm, and a maximum towing capacity of 1,800 kg. A notable technological feature is the inclusion of an infrared thermal imaging night vision system.

The interior, dubbed the ‘Mecha Starship Cockpit,’ draws inspiration from aviation design. It features a floating X-shaped central console, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster, and a 13.2-inch multimedia screen, while retaining physical buttons for climate control. Chery confirmed the Omoda X will be available in both fully electric (EV) and plug-in hybrid (PHEV) powertrains.
