Chetan Borgharia arrested in Chhattisgarh PSC corruption case

The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has arrested Chetan Borgharia, a former Officer on Special Duty (OSD) in the Chhattisgarh Chief Minister’s Office, in connection with a money laundering case involving the Chhattisgarh Public Service Commission (CGPSC) state service exams for 2020 and 2021.

Borgharia, who is currently serving as an additional collector in the Balrampur-Ramanujganj district, was granted six days of ED custody by a special PMLA court in Raipur following his arrest under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act, 2002. The investigation stems from an FIR filed by the Economic Offences Investigation Wing and Anti-Corruption Bureau in Raipur, which was subsequently taken over by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).

According to investigators, several individuals allegedly accepted bribes exceeding 30 million rupees from candidates to provide leaked exam papers and ensure selection through influence within the Chief Minister’s Office. The ED claims Borgharia’s name and position were used to facilitate this network. Financial scrutiny revealed that Borgharia’s bank accounts received approximately 6.66 million rupees through 170 separate transactions during the period in question.
