Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and Dealer Memorabilia to Be Auctioned in the United States
Mecum’s OnTime auction is offering the Jon W. George Chevrolet Collection, a curated set of nearly 300 lots of dealer‑related memorabilia spanning the 1940s to the present. Items include original training manuals, buyer’s guides, period advertisements, magazine archives, and promotional AMT Ertl model cars. Volume 1, with 140 lots, runs through August 18, while Volume 2, containing 152 lots, closes on August 20.
Separately, a 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport chassis 003—one of only five ever built and valued at $11‑13 million—is slated for sale. Developed by engineer Zora Arkus‑Duntov to challenge the Shelby Cobra, the lightweight fiberglass‑bodied prototype won races in the 1960s and was driven by legends such as A.J. Foyt. After a meticulous four‑year restoration, the car will appear at a major auction, drawing attention from collectors worldwide.
