Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport and Grand Sport X undergo performance testing
Recent performance evaluations of the Chevrolet Corvette lineup highlight the technical distinctions between the standard Grand Sport and the electrified Grand Sport X. MotorTrend testing revealed that while both models utilize a 6.7-liter V8 engine, the Grand Sport X features an electric motor for all-wheel drive, increasing total output to 721 horsepower. This hybrid configuration allowed the Grand Sport X to reach 60 mph in 2.4 seconds, outperforming the standard Grand Sport’s 2.7-second sprint.
In separate high-speed testing at the Johnny Bohmer Proving Grounds, the Drag Times YouTube channel conducted runs with a 1,250-horsepower ZR1X. To improve aerodynamic efficiency for top-speed attempts, the vehicle’s track package components were removed. During testing, the vehicle achieved a quarter-mile time of 10.4 seconds at 129.2 mph, with the half-mile sprint reaching 180.8 mph.
