Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport heading to auction with $12 million estimate

A rare 1963 Chevrolet Corvette Grand Sport, chassis 003, is set to be auctioned by RM Sotheby’s in Monterey. The vehicle is estimated to fetch between $10 million and $12 million (approximately €11.2 million).

Developed under a secret program led by engineer Zora Arkus-Duntov, the Grand Sport was designed to compete with the Shelby Cobra. Only five such cars were produced before General Motors halted the program. This specific model is one of only three coupes ever built.

The car has undergone a restoration costing roughly $1 million, involving over 4,000 hours of work to return it to its 1964 racing configuration, featuring its original blue and white livery. It was previously held by the same California collector for over twenty years.
