Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 rear spoiler causes paint damage at high speeds

Owners of the high‑performance Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 have reported paint chipping and surface damage around the mounting points of the large carbon‑fiber rear spoiler after running the car at speeds above roughly 290 km/h (180 mph). The issue has also been observed on a Corvette Z06 equipped with the same spoiler. The problem is linked to the optional ZTK Performance Package, which can generate up to 545 kg of vertical aerodynamic load at top speed, transmitting extreme forces to the bodywork. Chevrolet has said the damage is not due to paint quality but to the immense aerodynamic pressures, and the company is covering repair and repainting costs for affected owners. No design change or technical upgrade to the spoiler has been announced yet.
