Chevrolet Corvette electrification and hybrid development plans

General Motors is advancing the electrification of the Corvette lineup, focusing on hybrid solutions before transitioning to fully electric models. Chief Engineer Tony Roma has noted that while a hybrid Z06X—combining the Z06 engine with an electrified front axle—is technically feasible, its high production cost would place it near the price point of the ZR1.

Existing electrified models include the Grand Sport X and the ZR1X, both featuring all-wheel drive. The Grand Sport X utilizes a 6.7-liter V8 paired with an electric motor on the front axle to produce approximately 730 horsepower. GM President Mark Reyes has confirmed that additional electrified versions are in development, with a fully electric model planned for the future, though no specific release date has been set.

Additionally, the Corvette CX concept has been revealed as a design study for future generations, such as the C9. The CX concept is an all-electric, four-motor supercar boasting over 2,000 horsepower and a 90-kWh battery. While the CX is not intended for production, Chevrolet indicates it will shape the design direction for upcoming Corvette models.
