Chhattisgarh braces for heavy monsoon rain in multiple districts
The India Meteorological Department warned that heavy rain will affect several districts of Chhattisgarh on July 14‑17. The system over the Bay of Bengal and monsoon trough is expected to bring downpours, thunderstorms, lightning and gusty winds, with temperatures dropping 2‑3 °C in the next few days.
Rainfall records show Sarangdh‑Bilaspur receiving 462.5 mm, about 74 % above normal, while Saktī district logged an average of 326.2 mm from June 1 to July 13. Alerts have been issued for July 14‑15 and again for July 16‑17, and residents were advised to stay away from open fields, trees and electric poles during the severe weather.
