Chhattisgarh security forces seize explosives in anti-Maoist operations

Security forces in Chhattisgarh have conducted successful anti-Maoist operations in the Sukma and Bijapur districts, seizing significant caches of explosives and weaponry.

In Sukma, a joint operation involving the Sukma District Force, District Reserve Guard (DRG), and Bastar Fighters targeted a Naxal dump in the Belpocha-Gompad forest. Following intelligence from surrendered Naxal cadres, authorities recovered 8 kg of Improvised Explosive Devices (IEDs), including two tiffin bombs, 10 detonators, 17 gelatin sticks, and Cordex detonation wire. Local police stated the materials were intended to target security forces and disrupt peace in the Bastar region.

In Bijapur, a separate operation by the Basaguda police and the DRG near Pegadapalli village led to the recovery of a BGL launcher, 18 BGL cells, 12 arrow bombs, a hand grenade, and various rounds of ammunition. During this operation, police apprehended Bogam Lakhmu, a suspected Maoist aide allegedly linked to the Dandakaranya Adivasi Kisan Mazdoor Sangh (DAKMS). Lakhmu was detained and subsequently sent to judicial remand under the Explosives Act.
