Chhattisgarh forest department reshuffles 24 IFS officers
The Chhattisgarh government has announced a major administrative reshuffle within the Forest and Climate Change Department, transferring 24 Indian Forest Service (IFS) officers. The move, effective from August 8, 2026, aims to strengthen the administrative framework across various forest divisions, tiger reserves, and departmental units.
Key appointments include Ganveer Dhammsheel, who has been appointed as Special Secretary to the Forest and Climate Change Department, and Uttam Kumar Gupta, who will serve as the प्रभारी (in-charge) Chief Conservator of Forests for the Indravati Tiger Reserve. Other notable transfers involve officers being reassigned to districts such as Raipur, Bastar, Surguja, Mahasamund, Kanker, Durg, and Surajpur.
The reshuffle affects officers from the 2013 to 2022 batches. Additionally, several officers previously on deputation have been recalled to their primary departments or assigned new roles within the State Forest Development Corporation and the Chhattisgarh State Minor Forest Produce Union.
