Chiang Rai border patrol seizes 410kg of ketamine

Border patrol officers in Chiang Rai seized 410 kilograms of ketamine near the Thai-Myanmar border in the Mae Sai district. The discovery occurred during a midnight operation on September 5, 2026, following a tip from a reliable informant regarding organized smuggling activities.

Authorities located 17 black sacks containing the illegal substance hidden within a remote forested area behind Jong village. While the drugs were recovered, the suspects managed to escape into the night, and police are currently conducting searches to locate the smugglers. The operation was coordinated by the Chiang Rai provincial police chief and the Mae Sai police chief.
