Chiapas highway collision leaves two dead and 14 injured
A multi-vehicle collision on the San Cristóbal de las Casas-Chiapa de Corzo highway in Chiapas has resulted in two deaths and 14 injuries. The accident occurred at kilometer 41 while emergency teams were already on-site attending to victims of a previous crash.
A Coca-Cola delivery trailer, traveling at high speed toward San Cristóbal de las Casas, reportedly hit a curve and collided with a cargo truck, projecting it several meters. The trailer then continued forward, striking several other vehicles and damaging a total of eight units.
Among the deceased is Javier Trejo, a member of the San Cristóbal de las Casas Fire Department, who was providing aid to passengers of a public transport vehicle at the time of the impact. Of the 14 injured individuals, four are reported to be in serious condition. Local motorists suggested that a lack of proper signage at the site of the initial accident may have contributed to the pile-up.
