Seismic activity reported across Mexico, Colombia, and Chile
Multiple seismic events have been reported across Latin America. In Mexico, a magnitude 5.2 earthquake struck near Puerto Madero, Chiapas, at a depth of 35 kilometers. Other recent activity in Mexico includes a 4.0 magnitude tremor in Oaxaca and a 4.0 magnitude event in Chiapas near Ciudad Hidalgo. Additionally, a 3.5 magnitude tremor was recorded in Santa Catarina, Nuevo León.
In Colombia, seismic activity remains a concern following a major 7.4 magnitude earthquake. Recent aftershocks include a 3.1 magnitude tremor in Sipí, Chocó. In the Cañón del Combeima region, landslides triggered by previous seismic activity have led to road restrictions near the El Rancho hot springs.
Other notable movements include a 4.6 magnitude earthquake in the Valparaíso region of Chile and reports of non-tectonic vibrations in Guatemala City, which authorities from Insivumeh and Conred are currently investigating.
