Chiara Teocchi reveals spinal cord injury after La Thuile crash

Italian mountain biker Chiara Teocchi has revealed the severity of injuries sustained during a cross-country World Cup event in La Thuile. The 29-year-old athlete suffered a spinal cord injury during the crash.

Teocchi disclosed that complications arose during her surgical procedure when she experienced a severe allergic reaction to anesthesia, resulting in her heart stopping for one hour at a hospital in Bergamo. Due to the injury, she is currently using a wheelchair and faces a long, complex rehabilitation process. Despite the challenges, Teocchi expressed her determination to walk again and her hope to eventually return to competitive cycling.
