Chicago Bears RB Kyle Monangai exits practice with knee injury

Chicago Bears running back Kyle Monangai left a non-padded practice on Sunday after appearing to injure his right knee. The injury occurred during a drill when Monangai became tangled with defensive tackle Grady Jarrett. While Monangai was able to limp off the field under his own power without the use of a cart, the severity of the injury remains unclear pending further medical tests.

Monangai, a second-year player, is currently positioned behind starter D’Andre Swift in the team's depth chart. This incident marks the second time Monangai has dealt with injuries during this training camp.

In a separate development regarding the team's backfield, head coach Ben Johnson addressed the competition for depth roles. Johnson noted that players like Salvon Ahmed, who is competing for a third-string spot, must demonstrate value through special teams play and effective pass protection against blitzing linebackers to secure a roster position.
