Chicago Cubs activate Matt Shaw from injured list

The Chicago Cubs have activated utility player Matt Shaw from the injured list following a two-month absence due to a wrist injury. Shaw, who has shown strength against left-handed pitching, is expected to provide depth in the outfield and potentially serve in a platoon at second base.

To facilitate Shaw's return, the Cubs have optioned outfielder Kevin Alcántara to Triple-A Iowa. In minor league action, the Iowa Cubs secured a victory behind a walk-off double from catcher Owen Ayers in the bottom of the ninth inning.
