Chicago Cubs clinch postseason berth amid champagne celebrations

The Chicago Cubs secured their second consecutive Wild Card postseason berth following a 2-1 victory over the Miami Marlins at Wrigley Field.

During the post-game celebrations, pitcher Shota Imanaga drew attention by performing a “self-service” champagne fight. Holding two beer bottles, Imanaga described the act as “Japanese misogi” while pouring the liquid over himself, a gesture that amused teammates and onlookers.

The victory also marked a significant personal milestone for reporter Taylor McGregor. In her final broadcast for Marquee Sports Network before transitioning to a full-time role at ESPN, McGregor was embraced by Imanaga during the champagne celebrations. McGregor expressed deep gratitude to the Chicago community and her colleagues as she concluded her tenure with the network.
