Chicago Cubs manage roster shifts amid player injuries

The Chicago Cubs are managing several roster shifts due to player injuries. Shortstop Dansby Swanson is sidelined for at least a month after sustaining a left oblique strain, which has forced the team to shuffle its infield.

In response to Swanson's absence, the Cubs briefly added veteran Owen Miller to the roster. However, Miller was designated for assignment after appearing in only one inning at second base, as the team moved to acquire defender Arias.

Additionally, the club provided an update on pitcher Ben Brown, who has been out since June 19. Manager Craig Counsell reported that Brown has begun facing hitters in live batting practice sessions. If progress continues, Brown may begin a minor league rehab assignment with the goal of returning to MLB action in September.
