Chicago pedestrian killed in Gold Coast traffic accident

A 23-year-old man died early Saturday after being struck by a vehicle while crossing DuSable Lake Shore Drive in Chicago’s Gold Coast neighborhood. According to police, the man was walking on the sidewalk before crossing the southbound lanes, climbing over the median, and entering the northbound lanes, where he was hit by a blue sedan.

Paramedics treated the man at the scene before transporting him to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where he was pronounced dead. The driver remained at the scene following the collision. As of Saturday morning, no citations had been issued, and the crash remains under investigation by the Chicago Police Department.
