Chicago South Side shooting and pursuit
Overview
A driver was killed on Chicago’s South Side following a shooting and subsequent high-speed pursuit. The incident occurred in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood near East 75th Street and South Cottage Grove Avenue.
Police report that a suspect in a black sedan opened fire on a 26-year-old man standing near his vehicle. The victim attempted to flee in his car, but suspects continued to pursue him while firing through traffic. The pursuit ended when the victim crashed into a pole near East 74th Street. The man was pronounced dead at the University of Chicago Medical Center. Detectives are currently investigating the shooting.
