Chiclana approves tender for new municipal swimming pool
The Local Government Board has approved the tender for the construction of the new La Longuera municipal swimming pool in Chiclana. The project has a base tender budget of approximately 6.4 million euros, though the total investment is expected to exceed 7 million euros when including exterior urbanization and complementary works.
The construction is slated to take 24 months. The facility will serve as the city's second municipal swimming installation and is designed to support water polo competitions in collaboration with the Club Waterpolo Chiclana. Additionally, the site will include a 7,735-square-meter leisure park.
Part of the ‘La Ciudad que fluye’ Integrated Action Plan for sustainable urban development, the project is funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the 2021-2027 period. Mayor José María Román noted the facility's proximity to major secondary schools, which may allow for the integration of new educational training cycles.
