Spanish municipal swimming pool developments

Local governments in Spain have moved forward with infrastructure projects for new municipal swimming pools in Chiclana and Alcalá.

In Chiclana, the Local Government Board approved a tender for the La Longuera municipal swimming pool. The project, part of the ‘La Ciudad que fluye’ Integrated Action Plan for sustainable urban development, has a base budget of approximately 6.4 million euros, with total investments expected to exceed 7 million euros. Funded in part by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) for the 2021-2027 period, the facility is intended to support water polo competitions and will include an indoor pool, a 7,735-square-meter leisure park, green spaces, a calisthenics park, and photovoltaic canopies. Construction is expected to take up to 24 months.

In Alcalá, authorities authorized contracting for a new summer pool in Cabeza Hermosa. This project will be built on a 6,750-square-meter plot and will feature two buildings for changing rooms and a bar, alongside landscaped and shaded areas. Construction in Alcalá is expected to begin in November.
