Chiclayo, Peru sees teen kidnapping case and church electronics theft

In Chiclayo, Peru, a 14‑year‑old girl who was previously reported as a victim of sexual assault was allegedly abducted on June 4, 2026 by Junior Jhonatan Fiestas Gonzáles, 28. The local prosecutor has opened a preliminary investigation for kidnapping and rape, and is considering a request for a life sentence. The girl later contacted her parents saying she was safe but would not return home while the complaint remained.

In the same city, thieves broke into the Ebenezer evangelical church in the José Leonardo Ortiz district, dismantling a sign panel to gain entry while the pastors were away. Police say the burglars stole televisions, computers, laptops, gaming consoles, sound equipment and cash, prompting community outrage and demands for better security.
