Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar visits Goa to promote electoral literacy

Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar visited Goa for a two-day engagement aimed at strengthening grassroots electoral participation. During a regional conference in Margao, Kumar addressed approximately 1,000 booth-level officers (BLOs) to discuss voter registration, polling procedures, and digital voter services.

Kumar emphasized the transparency of India’s democratic framework, noting that electoral rolls are prepared by booth-level officers and audited by agents appointed by both national and regional political parties. He highlighted that the concurrent auditing by candidates and their agents during polling and counting ensures the integrity of the process.

The visit also included interactions with Electoral Literacy Clubs (ELCs) to promote an informed and inclusive electoral process. These clubs are tasked with disseminating information regarding voter registration and the ECINET platform. The initiative comes ahead of Goa’s scheduled elections in 2027.
