Chieti City Council approves new waste management strategy

The Chieti City Council has approved a directive for integrated urban waste management, which includes the acquisition of shares in the public company Eco. Lan S.p.A.

The new model involves an in-house assignment to Eco. Lan S.p.A. for the management of public facilities used for waste treatment and disposal. For other services, including street sweeping, collection, and urban hygiene, the administration will hold a competitive tender to ensure economic efficiency and improved service quality.

Mayor Giovanni Legnini stated that the decision follows attempts to increase municipal control and participation through direct dialogue with Eco. Lan S.p.A., which did not yield the desired results. He noted that this approach allows the city to remain a key participant in future regional or provincial waste management discussions while protecting community interests.
