Mexico prepares for regional gastronomic festivals in 2026

Various regional gastronomic festivals are scheduled for 2026 in Mexico. In Chignautla, the eighth edition of the Feria del Xole will take place from September 4 to 6. The event celebrates the ancestral Xole beverage, made from burnt corn, cacao, cinnamon, and panela. Organizers expect over 35,000 visitors and have planned an artisanal corridor with more than 100 exhibitors, cultural performances, and a guided “Xole Experience” to teach the drink's preparation and history.

In the municipality of Xochitepec, the fifth Feria del Mole y el Tamal will be held in Atlacholoaya on August 15 and 16. The festival will feature more than 35 traditional cooks showcasing regional recipes. A highlight of this edition is the “mole rosa,” a dish decorated with pomegranate and bougainvillea, alongside traditional red mole and various tamales.
