Chihuahua and UNICEF host training on affective parenting in Guachochi
Public servants from various state and municipal agencies participated in the State Training Workshop on Affective Parenting and Family Strengthening in Guachochi, Chihuahua. The initiative was led by the Chihuahua State DIF in coordination with UNICEF Mexico.
The program aims to provide tools for professionals working directly with families and communities to promote respectful parenting and prevent violence against children and adolescents. Participants included representatives from the Chihuahuan Institute for Integral Child Development (ICHDI), the State Public Security Secretariat, the Secretariat of Indigenous Peoples and Communities, the Subprocuraduría de Protección de Niñas, Niños y Adolescentes, and the health sector.
During the workshop, UNICEF child protection officer Gabriela Polo Herrera introduced the ‘CC+’ (Conscious Positive Parenting) tool, an interactive chat designed to strengthen the capacities of caregivers and professionals. The training seeks to create safe and protective environments, with a specific focus on the needs of mountain communities.
