Chihuahua social and humanitarian initiatives

Overview

In Chihuahua, state agencies and international organizations are implementing programs to address social welfare and humanitarian needs.

In Guachochi, the Chihuahua State DIF and UNICEF Mexico conducted a training workshop for public servants focused on ‘affective parenting and family strengthening’. The initiative introduced the ‘CC+’ (Conscious Positive Parenting) tool to help professionals promote respectful parenting and prevent violence against children, particularly within mountain communities.

Simultaneously, the state government’s Commission for Internal Forced Displacement held sessions to improve coordination between state agencies, civil society, and international bodies like the UNHCR and IOM. Discussions centered on supporting displaced populations through improved educational access and labor market integration. An IOM study noted Chihuahua’s progress in inter-agency coordination and the legal classification of forced displacement as a crime under the state’s Penal Code.
