Chihuahua Congress reviews financing for road and landfill projects

The Chihuahua State Congress is addressing two major municipal financing matters. Deputies will consider a 150‑million‑peso credit requested by the municipal government to fund the first stage of the Poniente 5 roadway, a project the state says is vital for the city’s growth. The vote has been delayed because congressional staff are on vacation from July 20 to August 3, pushing the decision to a later meeting of the permanent chamber.

In a separate action, the Congress approved a proposal by deputy Brenda Ríos Prieto demanding the municipal authorities submit detailed reports on the use of a 132‑million‑peso loan originally authorized for a new sanitary landfill. The request seeks documentation of expenditures, contracts and progress on the landfill expansion, an environmental complex and remediation work, aiming to ensure transparency and compliance with financial discipline rules.
