Chihuahua inaugurates Mexico's first comprehensive Safe Rest Stop

Mexico's Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications, and Transport (SICT) has inaugurated the country's first 'Parador Seguro con Servicios Integrales' (Safe Rest Stop with Integral Services) in Chihuahua. Located at kilometer 31+498 of Federal Highway 45 on the Chihuahua-El Sueco stretch, the facility represents an investment exceeding 100 million pesos.

The complex covers over 35,000 square meters and can accommodate up to 300 people simultaneously. It is designed to improve road safety and support the federal transport sector by providing mandatory rest areas to reduce fatigue-related accidents. Facilities include a commercial and gastronomic zone, a convenience store, first aid services, and nine fuel dispensers (four for light vehicles and five for diesel).

For heavy transport operators, the site offers overnight rest areas, maintenance workshops, and accessory shops. Amenities include 23 bathrooms, 10 showers (including two exclusive for women), and five car washes. The project is expected to benefit approximately 480,000 users annually and generate 205 jobs. SICT plans to build a total of 15 such safe stops across the country, with the second scheduled for the Mexico-Querétaro highway.
